Med-Scribe recruits for healthcare exclusively. We have an excellent administrative, non-clinical opportunity to work in a growing industry with flexible, full-time weekday hours and a great group to work with.
Are you interested in working forty-hours weekdays with a great group of nurses to facilitate the arbitration process for denied Medicare claims? In this role you will review patient records for medical necessity of provided services and render decisions concerning whether or not a clinical situation met established criteria. This is a temporary to hire position at $30/hr. with GREAT potential for hire by this multi-national client. The position does require an RN license in good standing with a BSN or higher degree and a minimum of five years experience in acute care, skilled nursing, long term care, hospice or home health care.
The job responsibilities include:
1. Makes reconsideration determinations on Medicare appeals.
2. Reviews cases to determine and summarize the facts of each case and assesses issues involved in the case.
3. Reviews file to determine whether all relevant information has been submitted.
4. Correctly identifies the denied item(s) within the case file, the denial rationale presented by the Medicare contractor and arguments off appellants. Correctly matches the denied item and arguments to Medicare policies.
5. Uses Internet and hard copy tools to research issues using federal or law, federal regulations, and relevant CMS policies.
6. Identifies whether case requires review by independent physician consultant.
7. Outlines pertinent facts and issues for review by independent physician consultants.
8. Acquires all necessary information involving cases and renders a determination based on the information.
9. Communicates the determination in a clearly written letter and ensures that the letter is sent to all appropriate parties as required by the specific client contract.
10. Collects and ensures that all data collected in a case file is accurate and enters and maintains data to related appeal computer tracking system.
11. Maintains the case file in appropriate order so that others (i.e., reopenings, ALJ) can easily understand the file.
12. Performs other special projects not related to a specific case such as general legal research, general medical research, drafting proposal sections, or acting as a liaison for a specific project, when necessary.
13. Meets or exceeds all standards established for this position.
14. Demonstrates teamwork and promotes positive company relations.
15. Performs other duties as may be assigned by management.
